Under the mandate of Govt.of India,Life Sciences Sector Skill Council is working towards attaining the Skilled India vision for Life Sciences Sector which includes Pharmaceutical,Bio-pharmaceuticals and Contract Research Sector
.
There are close to 8 . 41 lacs (Eight Lakh F orty O ne T housand) workforce employed with Life Sciences Sector India who are working in various occupations in Life Sciences Industry with skill set acquired through on the job learning or by undergoing organizational training programs .
This currently employed workforce can be recognized and certified for their respective skills under the “RPL Program” of Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council.
What is RPL Program
RPL is an acronym for “Recognition of Prior Learning”.The term has been aptly coined to suit its objective to recognize the skills gained through Informal and Non formal learning.
Mostly,meant for those who have gained skills through experience during the job.
The concept shall not only encourage existing workforce but also open path for future growth,both for individual and Organisation.
It shall also help in up-skilling of existing workforce thus enhancing the quality of work in its wake.
The skills are recognized through formal Assessment based on the National Occupational Standards(NOS) of the Job Role.
Nationally recognized Certificate is issued once candidate qualifies the Assessments.
RPL Certification Program
This program provides opportunity for current employed workforce of industry to get their skills recognised and certified at the National level.
A national level recognition of skills and upskilling in identified areas shall help them being motivated to work with Industrial unit as well as result in higher productivity and ROI .
For employers and employees both,it is an opportunity to identify skill gaps and subsequently hone them as per national occupational standard.
This program will help Industrial organization in conforming the quality of their internal programs .
It provides the opportunity to both employer and its workforce to bridge the gap without being off the field/ workplace.
This program is also understood by organizations as a motivational tool for their employees.
Provides an opportunity to employer to showcase its Organization as a Front runner in Quality of Skills.
The Program also aligns organization to the DCGI (CDSCO) vision for ensuring only certified candidates employed in the Industry (Ref notice dated 26 th August 2016 on CDSCO Website with subject as upgradation of skill sets of persons employed in pharma manufacturing unit) by 1 Jan 2018.
RPL Certification Program
Process Highlights for Assessment Mode
Under the current proposal,LSSSDC would follow following guidelines
Company would be identifying the employees for the specific job roles for certification.
Company would then provide the details of candidates to LSSSDC team.
Assessment will be conducted by LSSSDC using tablets.
Assessment will be in two parts,theory (multiple choice questions) and practical (viva/ demonstration to a Certified Assessor of LSSSDC).
Assessment would be scheduled within 15 working days of receipt of employee list and payment to LSSSDC team.
The result will be shared with company within 15 working days from the date of assessment.
